Windows 10 eliminates the lengthy process of setting default apps in Windows 7/8

How to set default apps in Windows 10

>> To set a default app for opening certain files in Windows 10, go to the settings app and click on System. In the default apps category, simply pick the application that you want to use as your default for whatever service, be it emails purposes, mapping services, the app to play all your music files, and so many others.

While still in the Settings app of your Windows 10, you can still further fine-tune these default apps settings. You can choose to double click on a file in order to open it with the default app. Microsoft has also included a reset button where you can easily get back to factory settings just in case you don’t like your changes. Furthermore, Windows 10 will let users choose their default apps by protocol or even file type, as well as set the defaults by app.

Windows 10 will not allow apps to change your default settings like with the previous versions of Windows. Rather, a prompt will show up suggesting to you the app you should consider as your default app. <<
