My XP computer suddenly slowed down to a crawl and occasionally had unresponsive programs. Did a little sleuthing and found I had a services file "wmpnet.exe" running in conjunction with a new download I had initiated for Windows Media Player data transfer. I disabled the service and the computer came back to normal. How lucky I was able to find the slowdown cause quite quickly. Phew!!!.
