They have created their own parallel universe. There is Fox, talk radio and even a parallel wikipedia. There is a strong element on the Right of fleecing the rubes. A proven way to do that is to whip up fear and paranoia to get them to open their wallets. Pay attention to the commercials run on Fox, for example. There are constant pitches for investing in gold coins and survivalist rations. Investing in gold is usually a bad idea, coins are about the worst way to implement a bad idea. The only real value of a gold coin is its melt value, but they are bought at a significant premium over that. The point is that investments in gold coins is borderline scams, with some companies being firmly over the line into scam territory. The pitches for survivalist stuff is almost as bad. Besides, think of what it means. They want you to invest in the idea that things are on the verge of collapse. Maybe even that it is something to look forward to.
