I think this "Nanu discussion" is being taken too far. His ideas of how the feds control the prices in the market and this relation of dow and oracle is a very hazzy. If one is really vague anything can be equated to anything else (any basic economics course will teach you this). I also believe somebody else already brought up the point that if one needs to bet on a certain security based on the movement of a certain index then you might as well bet on the index itself.

A relation of any security moving just based on a the DOW or SP 500 is just not a complete picture. When a regression analysis is being done for a certain asset there are a lot of factors ( econometrics )that is being considered which finally gives a certain relationship between the factors (independent variable) and the asset (dependent variable). This multi-colinearity, fstat , tstat etc of the factor with the asset under consideration then lead to being able to make such an assesment. There are a lot of folks who trade based on this purely techincal analysis without considering any of the company fundamentals. There are lot of professors who work on this for years to get to some such equation. So when some novice like Nanu comes out to make a certain statement without knowing the fundamentals of economics, statisics or the market please give it only its due importance and not anything more( since everybody has a right to say what one wants).

Thank You.
Thanks.
