I have a 2 port Netgear modem/router and a 4 port Netgear desktop switch. I've tried connecting all the computers to the switch and tried another configuration connecting one computer to the first modem/router port and plugging the switch into the second modem/router port with the rest of the computers connected to the switch. Both wiring setups produce intermittent ip-address conflicts. Don't know if the situation is due to my Netgear hardware or my internet provider failing to assign enough ip-addresses.
