3Com hopes to ship the new 56k modems by late March: techweb.com "Benhamou, however, said 3Com does not plan to cut the prices of its 56-kilobit-per-second modems. He said the impending 56K standard would encourage users to migrate from 33.6-Kbps units." The local Mac chain that was offering the specials on GVIL products a few weeks ago is still pushing the 6500s in their ads, complete with rebates. However, they are now giving away Supra 56k pc cards with purchase of a PB 1400. Competition for GVIL.
