Maybe it is Teck will win the bid here.
stockhouse.com

Zaldivar generates about $200-million per year in net cash flow (after capex and taxes) at a copper price of US$3 per pound, along with nearly $400-million in annual EBITDA. Projected production at is 240 million to 260 million pounds of copper in 2015, at a cost of US$1.65 to US$1.95 per pound.

The operation has a mine life of 12 to 13 years based on current reserve estimates. The mine’s life could likely be extended, but it would require some additional investment.
Successful bid expected to be in excess of $1.6 Billion. A far superior business move on Teck's part. Than developing either Galore or Shaft Creek at this time.
It brings immediate and continual cash flow. And coincides with the time it would take to bring a new project from planning through permitting and development, to commercial production.
