Wiggle wiggle. Squirm, squirm. Now we are arguing over semantics. While you didn't use the word "exactly", you implied it. Else your statement makes no sense. If a given mass of ice melts, but a lesser mass of water freezes, then you have a net increase in the amount of water. If the melted ice is on land, then you have a rise in sea level. Period. Full stop.

And that is exactly what is being measured. Despite all of your handwaving and fan dancing.

So, where is your proof that floating ice can affect sea level when it melts or freezes? Or are you just going to keep on refusing to man up that you made a mistake?

My money is on the latter.
