Reg - have enough experience on Unix to know that it ease of use is no comparison to that of Windows. Ok, Reg. Real example (happened to me today). I'm looking at a directory that has 60000 .html files in it containing legacy financial information. I want to know which one has a particular set of information in it. I typed : % grep -i '<what I wanted to find>' \| less How would I do this on Windows? What if I want to change my ethernet submask? NT makes you reboot. What if I want to find all files on a file system that have been changed since Jan 17, 1987, and that contain the string 'Bletch'. How to do that? All these things are one-liners in Unix. -justinb
