6/19/15 Contest update
Donald Trump announces he’s running for president and the Nasdaq quickly takes out its Dotcom Bubble high. Imagine what the market would do if The Donald were elected!
Even the Democratic National Committee reacted to Trump’s candidacy with great respect, as illustrated by DNC spokeswoman Holly Shulman’s response:
“Today, Donald Trump became the second major Republican candidate to announce for president in two days. He adds some much-needed seriousness that has previously been lacking from the GOP field, and we look forward to hearing more about his ideas for the nation.”
Meanwhile, biotechs racked up another winning week. The Contest median closed Friday up 35.37% YTD (vs. up 31.82% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index closed up 24.33% YTD (vs. up 19.79% YTD a week ago), while the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index closed up 35.58% YTD (vs. up 28.61% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 8.04% YTD (vs. up 6.65% YTD a week ago).
DEWDIL’s portfolio, up 94.62% YTD, kept its grip on first place but with a diminished lead, as DANIEL’s portfolio vaulted into second place with a 90.81% YTD gain. DONS’ portfolio, up 77.25% YTD, moved into third place.
At Friday's close, 50 of the 51 Contest portfolios were in the black with 35 beating the NBI and 23 now beating the SPSIBI. The 206 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 26.88% and a median YTD gain of 10.43%.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the week’s Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: INSY did a 2-1 stock split on June 8. I missed the split on last week’s update but made the adjustment this week. Thanks to Robo for the heads up!
(All corrections, especially adjustments for buyouts & splits, greatly appreciated.)
Have a terrific Summer Solstice weekend biotechies!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
