Gee, I wish I was smart enough to have all those answers. Beam is cheap. The industry is untapped. Consumers will eventually drive its success, not doctors. Beam is marketing to consumers. Those are only my opinions. That's why I like beam. This could all be bunk if visx has a far superior machine and technology which I don't believe they do. But, hey, I am not an engineer, chemist, much less an othamologist so what do I know? I have had rk and love it. I would have had prk if it was available in US 5 yrs ago. I and everyone I know who have had it, are proponents more so than the docs. Some do promote it, many don't. So the docs like visx because they are not competing. Does that make the technology better? So what does a merger do and why does it make sense? It would stop the fighting that is currently severely clouding the industry's potential. It would put prk on the forefront to the consumers ahead of all the talked about competition coming 2 or 3 years down the road and give the combined company a major foothold in this industry. The combined company would be stronger than the sum of its parts. Both cos. investors benefit. I believe prk is a comodity, not a procedure. It is a comodity just like eyeglasses and contact lenses. People aren't going blind with it like some would have you believe. I wonder what people were saying several years ago about running around with a foreign object in your eye all day? I don't know but I will bet the contact lense industry also had a rough start. Good luck!
