"You are not of our sort."
Likewise! Don't you feel like a fish out of water puffing your silly superstitions on a science thread?
"it would not make a difference to you if Jesus was God, a god, part of a trinity, or anything else."
That is a foolish thing to say. If the biblical Jesus had existed, and if he were a person or a god with goodness and wisdom, then I would praise him and those qualities. I am not chary of my praise where it is deserved. If you were a regular here rather than an interloper, you would know that I frequently praise real people such as Robert Green Ingersoll, Spinoza, Einstein, etc.
"If we come to know our Creator more intimately we will not be unduly disturbed if certain Bible accounts leave us wondering why he acted as he did"
You are talking childish. The bible is tribal myth. The conceit, the vain glorious boasting, the genocide, rape, incest, and self serving arrogance is disgusting. If you want to be a good person you can follow any number of paths. There is no necessity to sell your birthright and to denounce reason and common sense. I know it comforts you to belong to a group where you can pretend to have all the answers--but this sort of comfort is for weaklings and those who are incapable of personal integrity.
"This goes also for our relationship with others and how we communicate with them."
Bless you, my son. You sound like a young man struggling to find meaning in your world. I wish you luck in your search. As the decades roll by and you (hopefully) grow in wisdom and maturity, you will gain a different perspective and you will be able to relegate the "bible" to the other mythology texts on your bookshelf alongside all the myriad creation tales that humans have created to quiet our ignorance and our fears. |
