Nothing is wrong with me.

The question that entered my mind is, "Wouldn't it be most cost effective to do it differently?" And I concluded, I guess not, or they would do it.

They're chickens and as long as it isn't unhealthy for humans the producers should make that call. OTOH, CostCo shouldn't be advertising one thing and doing another.

If you have ever been in a chicken processing plant or slaughterhouse, you know that it is very dirty business. Dirty, in the sense that every animal in the place is there for one reason: to be someone's supper.

Temple Grandin has done great work in understanding the business of beef cattle and bringing more humane treatment to the processing. But at the end of the line they're going to have their throats slit by a machine and an hour later they'll be steaks.

CostCo has been the darling of liberals for a few years now, largely on the basis of a misunderstanding of their policy with respect to paying employees. So, yes, this is a bit of a backlash by liberals, who also have issues with the raising of animals for slaughter (just not enough of one to stop eating them).
