Definitely tune out the noise. I'm having a very good year but doubt I would be if I was letting the market's actions dictate what I do. How many days has the Dow lost over 100 points? I don't know but there have been a lot of them this year and the Dow is only up a percentage point or two.

In the past I would have been selling on many of those bad days. I traded way to often in years past and mostly I was worrying about what someone was saying about the market or stocks.

My own experience is the same as the reader's note in last Thursday's report. I buy the ones I like, follow the rules, don't do anything for weeks and am doing better than ever. I know now why you have to hold onto their stocks, if you let the noise shake you out guessing when to get back in or forgetting to can be a costly error.
