Since when do criminals care about such niceties as insurance?
I thought the purpose of gun control was to get the guns out of the hands of criminals, not to protect the law-abiding citizens from themselves.
The point is that there should be some sort of risk assessment done before someone can get a firearm.
True, but the mandatory insurance solution isn't going to work for the reasons I already gave.
