It never pays to underestimate Microsoft. I remember their company meeting in 1993 (I no longer work there). . . either Gates or Ballmer (I forget which) said the enemy is Lotus and Novell. Let's see . . . MSFT price was about 17 at the time. Did the Lotus and Novell do as well? Ha!

Not that MSFT necessarily would say or believe that the Justice Dept is the enemy. The point is that these folks are very deep thinkers, and when they put their minds to something you can bet they aren't rolling the dice.

Stock looks just a tad pricey to me right now, but not because of Justice. Still a great long-term investment.

Traders can rant and rave and worry all they want with each new news development, but IMHO, you can't go far wrong by buying and holding MSFT, INTC, CPQ, DELL, and CSCO till the year 2010.
