Taxes - if not for that - there would be no reason.
How about making sure all of the vehicles on the road are compliant with safety and environmental standards?

How about making it impossible for thieves to steal cars without taking them to chop shops?

How about driver's licenses? Just for taxes as well?
That is the answer - the government has been barred from restricting that right.
Without a stronger defense than that, the only way the 2nd amendment can be protected from repeal is by spreading FUD about the dangers thereof.
