Re:Sin (FYI)
In both Hebrew and Greek, the verb form for sin means "to miss" as in missing or not reaching a goal, not merely physical objects or goals but also moral or intellectual marks.
God's original purpose that man should be in harmony with God's personality, be like his Creator, similar to the way a human father who loves his son desires the son to be like him in outlook on life, standards of conduct, qualities of heart, etc... is what was "missed." To have succeeded required man's obedience and submission to divine will, to instruction, thus, sin involved a moral failure, a missing of the mark in all these aspects.
Sin was 1st introduced in another dimension, in the spirit realm before its introduction on earth. It came through a spirit creature known simply as Resister, Adversary, the principle False Accuser or Slanderer of God. The apostle John said: " He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning." 1 John 3:8
So, we consider Romans 5:12. " Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:"
That makes Solon a sinner whether he is aware of it or not. |
