"Your animosity toward Christian references and discussions are like those who once were associated with a Christian congregation but were expelled or disfellowshipped due to a lack of humility.

LOL! You just don't get it, do you??

I have absolutely no animus toward either fiction or non-fiction. I do find people who use religion to hurt others contemptible and more than offensive--but that is an entirely different matter.

Christian dogma (like all primitive tribal fiction designed to control and motivate the tribe) is self-serving, immoral, and uncivilised. I do a service in pointing this out--just as Muslims do a service when they point out the inhumanity of Islamic dogma.

I was never a Christian. I never held any religion. I have been to churches and religious gatherings of all kinds as a matter of interest. There is something quaint and touching about the vulnerability and the neediness of people-- and their sad and regretful exploitation by churches in general.

It seems that the human species overall is still in an evolutionary childhood--with Reason and Intellectual Honesty finding a ready substitute in Fear and Confusion. Indeed, humans have only been on the earth for a short time. The traits that make us human evolved only recently. And intellectually and emotionally, our species is alone and afraid of the stars. The metaphor of sheep is an apt one. The shepherds may change but the sheep will always follow behind.

YOU are afraid to be alone in the pasture. You are afraid of the wind. You are afraid of the night. You are afraid of the thunder. But mostly you are afraid of the TRUTH!

"but were expelled or disfellowshipped due to a lack of humility"

Too funny! You meant to say a lack of obedience, I am sure! But no....when I am in churches, I respect all their little rituals with reverence and deference.

Here is what you need to understand: If spirituality is to be measured by awe, wonder, and humility toward the heavens--then I am probably one of the most spiritual people around. If spirituality is to be measured by love of this planet and by awareness of the wounds and the weaknesses and the vulnerabilities of my brothers and sisters across the earth--then I am exceedingly humble in our smallness and in our needs.

I respect and adore all of Nature. My morality is to do good and not harm--to help rather than hurt. I think the tribal traits boasted of in the bible (rape, incest, genocide, racism, brutality, injustice, ignorance, slavery, intolerance, exclusivity, theft, torture, animal cruelty, human sacrifice, and the subjugation of women) are tribal and primitive, and harmful to the mind and the inner spirit of modern humans.

It offends you and other religious/superstitious people when I point these things out because there is an impassable dissonance between your need to be led and "fathered"--and your inability to rationalise the contradictions, the absurdities, and the tribal ignorance displayed in these terrible mythic tales of sacrifice and cruelty. There is a falling-out between your mind and your heart. Between your Awareness and your Neediness.

Sorry, "JubilationT"--Spinoza was excommunicated because of his love of truth--and his love of his people and all of Nature. But I am no Spinoza. Not hardly...

But I can walk into any church or temple in the world and know their rituals and their superstitions--and be welcomed. And as to a personal "congregation" or "flock"...I have all of Nature to dwell in. I had a good father. I need no other. I have great family and friends I can touch and hold. I have no need of invisible friends or invisible comforts. You need these things--you keep them. Best of luck.
