Hi GZ:

I think the first week or two in January will tell us a good deal. If no money comes in, we go down. However, I think we have an opportunity to cruise into the new year. It may be a weak rally or no rally at all. However, at this point, I think the selling is over for the year. Of course, we could end up with some calamity somewhere which drives the market down. But there will not be many people around to drive it.

On Friday, I thought I noticed the January effect beginning. Some of the beaten stocks on the NASDAQ picked up a bit. Throughout the day the percentage decline on the NASDAQ was smaller than on the DJI and the SPX. Then at the end of the day the NASDAQ went positive. This is the first time in a long time that the NASDAQ did better than the other averages.

In January, all my current positions will be closed and I will be completely in cash. Whatever the market decides, I will go with it.
