tech: <<I personally think that it is odd that they can't say they did another y2k conversion since that first one 4 years ago>>

From the press release ...

"COGNICASE completed its first automated end-to-end Year 2000 conversion in 1994 for a leading Canadian financial institution. To date, COGNICASE, together with its strategic partners, has completed more than 35 end-to-end Year 2000 software conversions and more than 100 additional Year 2000 assessments, for a total of more than 70 customers."

According to the press release, they have completed a total of 35 "end-to-end" Y2K software conversions since that first one in 1994 (3 years ago).

>>converting a project that has many errors is not the same as one that has none.<<

You implied from that statement that their conversion had many errors. That was unfair. There was nothing in the PR that said anything about number of errors. You should have at least stated that it was your opinion that it had many errors.

Personally, I would expect that they had some errors ... just as I expect all major conversions to have at least some. Of course, we don't know how many lines of code were converted. Possibly only 100.

With 34 other 'end-to-end' conversion completions, I wouldn't be too quick to write them off as significant competitors for the "ours is better than yours" award.
