No, you can export VMs from one format to another, but a VMware VM needs to be opened in VMWare software.

The good thing is it can be opened from any of your hosts. So I have one computer with three Windows 8.1 systems and two Windows 10 systems. Your single OS X or whatever OS VM can be opened on any of the host systems. So I have one OS X VM that I use across those five Windows systems.
