When we were building hobby computers in the 70s in grad school everyone knew what was coming.

Well, duh. But that is only because the Minuteman and the Apollo programs kickstarted the IC industry. If it wasn't for that demand, you wouldn't have been building hobby computers in the 1970s. Unless you used transistors.
