Victoria, All this may be true, but Packard Bell lost market share in the US and in the World Y/Y. Their US shipments were only 680K in Q3'97 vs 722K in Q3'96 according to IDC. I don't think lap-tops are a factor in this number. Compaq is a major supplier through catalogues. Do these count as retail sales? Who knows. P/B was the only top supplier with Y/Y negative growth. Particularly in the current quarter I think Compaq's Presario's are major sellers into the home market. At any rate, my key point is that I believe Compaq is selling a lot of sub-zero's
