Actually I have been very impressed with the MK II. When you consider that they were the first people to demonstrate FL Ports on a switch, and the standardization effort for FL was led by Brocade, it's even more impressive. The market really buys solutions, and ANCR has done a pretty good job of doing that. ON the OEM side, as I told Kerry Lee in a private mail, there are not alot of contracts to be won because these switches are epensive (today) and putting a 12K-20K$ switch in your product (financially) is NOT easy.
The new management team has a good systems background, and systems are what you actually end up selling. these are not plug and play kind of boxes, and they need to sold as such.
When I was at Brocade, I rarely competed with ANCR. We were ONLY going after OEM sales and ANCR was looking at end user stuff. At SQNT they were selling Class 1 to someone who wanted Class 2&3. Brocade was selling low latency, and ANCR wasn't.
The stock looks deliciously low. With a marketcap of $58M it is undervalued. I saw a suggestion that they could be bought for the technology, a l\more likely scenario is a merger with a Host Adaptor or Hub company, makes more sense.

Roy: Welcome! I'm surprised no one's asked but I'm an agressive kind of guy so tell me.....what's your opinion of ANCR and its potential in the marketplace--product wise, stock wise, as a competitor, etc etc etc.
Thanks in advance. tm |
