You're making the same mistake the people in Greece made, which was not considering unfunded obligations as debts, which they most assuredly are.

And that's the same mistake the rest of EU is making, and the same mistake almost every person in the U.S. makes. And it is why the people in Greece felt justified in voting to do nothing. To them, they're owed the money. And they will never comprehend that the money is gone because they will never have a proper accounting.
