I think Synchronos hyped Cheng a bit too much. See the notes below.
Mr. Strosal was senior director...so who knows exactly how valuable Cheng was. Time will tell.

QUARTERDECK NAMES NEW VICE PRESIDENT OF INTERNATIONAL
- John Strosahl to Head International Sales, Marketing, and Operations -
MARINA DEL REY, CA - August 6, 1997 -- Quarterdeck Corporation (Nasdaq: QDEK) today announced the appointment of John Strosahl as Vice President of International. Strosahl, who will be responsible for the growth and development of the company's international revenue and general international business functions, assumed his new duties this week.

"I am looking forward to consolidating the company's international business functions and contributing to its successful and talented international team," said Strosahl. "Our goal is to strengthen Quarterdeck's marketing, sales and operations capabilities in its international markets."

"John has been a tremendous asset to Quarterdeck," said Curt Hessler, CEO and president of Quarterdeck Corporation. "The international market is a strong growth area and I believe John will continue to help us achieve our international sales goals."

Strosahl, with Quarterdeck since March 1996, most recently served as interim vice president of worldwide sales since March 1997, and senior director of Asian/Pacific/Latin American sales, marketing, and operations since May 1996. Prior to Quarterdeck, Strosahl was part of the executive management team at Datastorm Technologies, Inc. where he established the international department. Datastorm, acquired by Quarterdeck in March 1996, was a developer and manufacturer of the well known communications software, Procomm Plus. As the head of Datastorm's international department, Strosahl significantly increased the company's international revenue by successfully establishing its European headquarters in the UK, and instituting distribution, retail, corporate, and direct sales strategies and channels for international markets including Europe, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, the Middle East, and Africa. Strosahl received his Masters Degree from the University of Illinois and his BA from Ill. Wesleyan University.
