Incentive stock options(ISO's)are taxed as captial gains
,not ordinary income as long as you hold on to company stock
for two years after you receive your option, and one year after
yoy exercise them.

to qualify for new capital gains rate of 20% you have to
hold the stock 18 months.

Individuals who exercise their options will want to hold
to 1999 and beyond.
