The subsidies for the O&G industry according to the chart and paper I just read are from 1918 - 2009. You're comparing apples to oranges.

On a per year basis O&G gets $4.9 B (how its broken down in regards to depletion, etc.) I don't know.
Per year for solar gets $ .4 B

Consumed BTU's for O&G for the latest year charted ~55 quadrillion BTU's
Solar doesn't even show up on the graph. Let's call it 1 quadrillion BTU's

55 times the consumable energy from O&G for about 12 times the "subsidies". Doesn't even take into account other products from O&G that we use everyday including manufacturing solar panels.

Yes I'd like to have been out of the ME the entire time also.
