If you add the unemployment rate and the percentage of workers are not participating in the labor force (which includes housewives, early retires, etc.), besides getting a number that isn't "real", you also get a number that hit a 68 year high under Bush and that has been going down since.

You must love Bush's solution of raising the retirement age and working longer hours in order to increase the labor force and production, no?

The fact is, unemployment is way down since Bush left, and is down more than any offset in the size of the labor force. The participation in the labor force is a long term trend, was considerably lower in the better part of the last century, and reflects many long term demographic factors that are independent of the economy.
