From my understanding Selectron was making the boards that go into their higher end servers for awhile. The cost to NCR to manufacture their own product was astronomicle. NCR, unlike SUN and HP, let the customers customize their orders which went directly against the margin of the products. For example, SUN and HP may have 4 pre-defined configurations for their boxes, NCR allowed the customer to configure any way they wanted to. This cost the factory big time.

My understanding that Outsourcing Manufacturing is currently the direction of most companies. HP outsourced everything except their high end servers. Also, selectron is a two time Baldridge award winner which will hopefully translate into higher quality products being delivered to customers. The $100,000,000 from selectron doesn't hurt either.
