Brian,

Would you really pay more for a $ of estimated earnings from a cyclical company with a track record for being unpredictable, than you would for a $ of estimated earnings from a company with more than a century of near continuous growth?

Assuming that the market is wrong on some very well known companies could be injurious to your wealth.

I would also prefer to own AMAT than KO - that doesn't mean that my AMAT money will do better, it's just my expectation.

KO is only 1 of 30 stocks making up the Dow. Others are more attractively priced and far less risk than any of the semi equipment companies including AMAT.

Ian.
