7/17/15 Contest update
On July 14 @adamfeuerstein tweeted: “$XBI $IBB so stupidly high now even most cheerleader-y Twitter bio-bulls are too embarrassed to say anything.”
Well, Adam, I’m not too embarrassed to report that the performance of the 2015 Biotech Charity Contest bio-bulls actually exceeds that of both the XBI (the ETF for the SPSIBI) and IBB (the ETF for the NBI). Astounded, yeah, but never embarrassed by my brainy biotechie contestants. So, without blushing, here are the numbers:
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 47.45% YTD (vs. up 36.34% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index closed up 31.01% YTD (vs. up 22.71% YTD a week ago), while the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index closed up 45.34% YTD (vs. up 35.48% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 10.01% YTD (vs. up 5.52% YTD a week ago).
Contest leader DANIEL’s portfolio, up 112.61% YTD, had a terrific week, smashing through the triple-digit barrier. Also in the rarefied triple-digit zone is DONS’ portfolio, up 104.21% YTD, now in second place and DEWDIL’s portfolio, up 101.59% YTD, in third place.
At the week’s close, 50 of the 51 Contest portfolios were in the black with 36 beating the NBI and 27 beating the SPSIBI. The 206 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 34.22% and a median YTD gain of 14.83%.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the week’s Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks. (Foreign stock prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: AMF.TO symbol change to PMN.TO
(All corrections, especially adjustments for buyouts & splits, greatly appreciated.)
Have a fun weekend biotechies!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
