The Klan is alive and well in the Ole South It is alive. But it has been, uh "healthier" in the past. Peak Klan was probably in the 1980s, when there were attempts to go mainstream. That wasn't popular with much of the base. Mainstream meant less violence and violence was what many found attractive about the Klan. So there was a lot of infighting and groups splintering off. The results were shown at that rally. The SC Klan of not that many years ago would have made sure at least some of the counter-protestors would have died. See Greensboro Massacre. en.wikipedia.org There is video of it. In one, you can spot a couple of police cruisers parked about a block away with the cops waiting until after the Klan leaves.
