We haven't moved the printer around at all. I have it sitting on my kitchen table, next to my Acer chromebook. And we do have wireless direct set up, along with the HP email address. Everything works fine and we can print on all our smartphones, laptops and my chromebook. Then the chromebook does not print when we change hotspots until I enter the new password.

And yes, I called HP support and posed my question on the HP support forums. I was told none of these printers have any memory so they can't remember more than the password they are currently connected to.

Once it is connected to my password, everything works fine. It is a cheap consumer oriented printer for $60. It does the job, but works on the slow side, especially compared to my Brother 22700DW, which I bought for $25 more.

But that's OK. I wasn't looking for anything super fast here. I already have a laser printer for big jobs. The Envy 4500 was bought for casual printing when I am on my chromebook.

But I did test it out on our smartphones and laptops and they all printed fine.
