So it is very third world-like in some respects. The vast majority of jobs are minimum wage to about $10 an hour. There are a sprinkling of semi-professional and professional jobs, typically paying a third to a half of what the equivalent job pays in Houston or Dallas. Heck, even Beaumont.

So they are not hiding but simply underemployed. I take it its by choice. Like you, they could leave for Dallas or Houston or Austin but apparently, they want to stay in CS. Is that the explanation?
