Figured out yesterday the main issue of running multiple-boots of Windows.

Basically, an upgrade will only replace or upgrade an existing Windows installation.

However an OEM Windows installation disk can create multiple installs of the same version on a computer.

So in other words to use the coming free upgrade for a dual-boot, the solution will be to create an extra installation of Win7 or 8 with an OEM disk in order to keep one and upgrade the other.

Anyway this is how my Windows 8 upgrade behaved.
