Obama's scrapping a missile defense plan in Poland and Czechia was standing up to Putin? Was Obama promising flexibility to Vladimir standing up to Putin? Obama threatening Assad and then backing down when Putin sent warships to Syria was standing up to Putin?

I think you believe Obama whining about Putin's aggression and rudeness to him is standing up to him. It's not, it's a symptom of a failure to stand up to him.
