There's a lot of focus on the lion killer. The details are disgusting. He shot the lion with a bow and arrow, which didn't kill him. It took 40 hours to find him and then shoot him while he lay wounded. The he proceeded to cut off his head, which is when they discovered the tracking collar. Do you think that maybe he would stop decapitating the lion when they discovered the collar? Nope. Cut his head off, skinned him and left the remains for the vultures.

Didn't kill him for the meat. He killed him for fun and it cost him $55,000 to do it.

So there's money to be made from killing lions and babies for parts.

Last year my wife and I watched a documentary type show on some left leaning cable network.

It chronicled a woman hunter who took a small bush plane to some remote place or island. She killed a Kodiak bear, took the skin and left the carcass for the animals to eat.

It was quite symmetric and made it sound like some kind of pet food drive for starving animals. I think was make to promote her feminist spirit.

(Quite an off topic aside but as we were watching it I heard a noise and glanced out the door. There was a young bear walking by. I said bear, bear and my wife thought at first I was referring to the TV. Quite the ironic coincidence.
We almost never watch shows like that and while we live in bear country almost never see them, let alone outside the screen door.
Thanks for the memory, my wife passed away in January. )
