7/31/15 Contest update
The IPO of Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong’s NantKwest took place Tuesday and its natural killer cells immediately displayed efficacy in killing biotech stocks. But biotechs quickly began to show some resistance and finished on an upswing, little changed for the week.
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 41.43% YTD (vs. up 41.80% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 25.99% YTD (vs. up 24.51% YTD a week ago), while the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index was up 36.91% YTD (vs. up 37.15% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 8.28% YTD (vs. up 7.44% YTD a week ago).
DEWDIL’s portfolio, up 99.92% YTD, remained Contest leader, with DANIEL’S portfolio, up 90.52% YTD and DONS’ portfolio, up 83.76% YTD, holding second & third place.
At the week’s close, 49 of the 51 Contest portfolios were in the black with 35 beating the NBI and 27 beating the SPSIBI. The 206 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 28.02% and a median YTD gain of 7.58%.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the week’s Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks. (Foreign stock prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: None
(All corrections, especially adjustments for buyouts & splits, greatly appreciated.)
Have a safe & relaxing weekend biotechies!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
