In those seminal decades I was a Bobby Kennedy and Gene McCarthy supporter, a McGovern guy, I even liked Independent John Anderson. That was an interesting and tragic political era. Nixon and his organized criminals and later Lee Atwater, truly poisoned the well for the next 35 years still going strong.

I couldn't listen to Hubert Humphrey's long-winded hawkish speeches. Now I appreciate what he was trying to communicate and I think he acknowledged his Vietnam mistake.
