Chinese PC market to triple! WOW!!![South China Moring Post]

Do keep in mind domestic manufacturers are in the lead due to special privilages enjoyed by them. What is interesting though is that if China wants to join WTO, they will have to create a much more level playing field, and I expect some of this privilages to disappear soon, perhaps as soon as by 2000.

KAD: As for my opinion as to which computer to buy, I would say buy a Compaq or Dell with Pentium II,with min of 32 MB RAM 4-6 GB of hard disk, etc this should be good for 3 to 4 years. But for goodness sake stay away from Packard Bell. I recently bought a Compaq 4814, and 'am pretty happy with it.

Ps: if you like the India links i post now and then from a business stand point, then you would like China even better as they have about a 12 year lead on India, but if you like India for cultural reasons, you would like China equally,as you very well know both have over 5000 years of history and culture, though both are lacking in material things from a Western point of view.
