Marxism was never debunked.

The world has evolved but plenty of what Marx observed is still valuable, as with much as other enlightenment thinkers of the 18th and 19th centuries. The earlier marx was certainly a whole lot closer to our professed Christian moral "values" than atheist objectivist Ayn Rand.

ALL the old masters of social thought are somewhat obsolete as you might expect from time and experience marching on.

Marxist implementations failed for the same reason capitalism fails - the communist party lusted for power and was corrupt and inept, thanks to the insiders. Merit as a wage factor was erased - and power became a new version of multi generational ceremonial privilege.

Just as health consequences, oligopolies, corrupt governments, oligarchs and fatcats killed laissez-faire capitalism. Along with logic. Which is why the GOVERNMENT under Teddy Roosevelt moved forward with the "socialist" anti trust acts as bipartisans moved on protecting the air, water, parks etc. from private for profit development -- while taking PUBLIC funds to build infrastructure and free education (the greatest economic payback vs. social waste.)

We now have a mix of Marx and Adam Smith and it has served us well. Could be a lot better without the corrupting factors of financing elections and stealth bribery.
