It was pretty interesting though. It could be perceived as a public screening test for epilepsy. Some time back I wanted to develop (working with my brother in law who is an optometrist with a specialty in vision training) a computerized test for dyslexia and certain other vision problems, but I was too lazy and I think others have now done it. It would be possible for video games to be used both as diagnostic aids and for vision training so for someone this incident in Japan is more of a spur re an opportunity than a threat. It could result however in some voluntary guidelines re limits on flashing lights etc but it shouldn't be a problem. I am not worried about it.
