he is not speaking from conviction. On ANTHING. At this point, I'm trying to stay as uninformed as possible about the candidates - like the rest of the country. This way, I get what most other people get - impressions. No in-depth understanding of where a candidate stands on anything - just what bubbles into the press.
Impressions so far:
No mystery why Trump is in the #1 spot. He's saying what everyone is thinking and is beholden to no one. Didn't think in the beginning he had a chance. Now I'm not so sure. Could still split the party. Expect him to make everyone else look pikers.
Big mystery why Bush is next other than he's been bought by the GOP establishment and will follow orders just like Obama takes orders for his puppeteers.
Walker's positions aren't clear. (Remember, I'm not paying too much attention.) What's bubbled up is that unions hate him. Therefore, I like him.
Carson I like, but he won't get very far. He'll do well against Trump. Being articulate and speaking well doesn't mean much though. Newt was a great speaker and very articulate (I think his Stepford wife hurt him).
Sorry Carly didn't make the debate list. So far, I'm impressed with what she's saying.
Huckabee, Christie and Kasich shouldn't be wasting people's time.
Paul, Rubio and Cruz are all lumped together as outside the GOP's mainstream. All have great things to say, but aren't being heard other than by those who support them. They need better PR people and more money.
The others who didn't make the debate, like Graham, probably shouldn't have, with the exception of Carly.
Not much to comment on the Dem's side. Clinton will get the nomination. Sanders is popular because so many people are against Clinton, but it will go nowhere. The dream of Biden running to add a little humor is just that - a dream. Still possible to see Kerry or Gore surface. |
