Yes. But it may take a generation of what are now teenagers to pass through from the tinkering stage and into a usage mode. Once they get jobs as young whippersnappers they will increasingly goad managers with "are you &$(58&@ kidding me? Just link up a 3 D printer". That time horizon is just to long and there are no guarantees that the current companies will be anywhere in the mix.

The next worse case will have DDD and SSYS merging, cementing the fact that the market just isn't big enough to support two (ala pay radio). They would stagnate for years until some upstart came up with the magic app/business plan.

Most analysts still show the big 2 making money. I would expect continued lowering of guidence and mounting losses (read one time "extraordinary " loss). Should this transpire I would expect sub 10 price on the stocks. Just like RFID industry did. Eventually........well just have an optimistic life expectancy.
