The leadership wants very badly to get rid of Trump. They fully realize what his attraction is, he doesn't use code words and dog whistles. They resent that Santorum had too hide behind "blah people" instead of saying "black people". They love Trump saying that all immigrants are rapist, thieves, murderers and pedophiles. Or aspire to be. They believe this is true because Fox tells them it is true. And they want to shout it from the rooftops. The leadership is perfectly fine with Fox feeding the base this stuff, but they don't want them to go public with it.
