seriously, were you demanding the internet before it was invented? It was invented so that ARPA sites could communicate with each other even in the event of a nuclear war. There was a demand, the need to communicate, and the Internet was developed to satisfy the demand. As for airplanes, people had dreamed of flying for millenia. Maybe longer. So there was demand there, also. There was a need, call it demand, for a replacement for horses. Especially in the cities where the posed a health hazard.
