Ref running up stand alone win 10.

I started with a spare partition and an evaluation build of windows 10. I believe it was an iso file. I just
plugged it into a virtual DVD drive and started the new version of Windows. It was as easy as that.

I just upgraded it to the full version from the evaluation copy.

Not sure if there is still a free evaluation iso version of Win 10 still available.

i am not getting any conflicts or aggravation from MS. I am running both Win 7 and Win 10 as separate O/S's.

I also have a evaluation copy of a virtual Win10 PC to that I have not upgraded yet.

Windows 10 pro Previw, Evaluation Copy, Build 10074
