Wonder why Barron's didn't mention anything about LORAL's investment in CDRD?? Actually it is no wonder--that would be too positive for the "shorters rag". >>>Loral received an order from CD Radio, Inc. (NASDAQ:CDRD) for the construction of three digital audio radio service satellites and has an option for a fourth. CD Radio, a digital audio radio service (DARS) company that is developing a satellite-to-car 50-channel radio service for delivery of music and other programming to motorists throughout the United States, is one of two FCC national DARS license holders. SS/L will deliver the first two satellites for launch beginning in 1999. In addition, Loral announced it has invested $25 million in CD Radio. The investment to purchase 15% of the company's outstanding common stock further expands Loral's participation in an emerging satellite-based business.<<<
